RelaxInEurope is a small, personal collection of places and ideas for people who want to travel more slowly across the continent. We believe the best trips are the ones where you unpack once, learn the name of the person who runs the bakery, and watch the light change on the same hills for more than three days.
Home swapping is central to how we travel. It saves money, but mostly it lets us live inside a neighborhood instead of visiting it. You cook in someone else's kitchen, read their books, and water their tomatoes, and in return you give the same care to their home. That builds a quiet kind of trust a hotel never can.
What we focus on
- Destinations that are beautiful but not overwhelmed, where daily life is still visible and welcoming.
- Seasons that reward lingering: spring blossoms, early summer before the heat, harvest time, and the first quiet snows.
- Practical notes over checklists. We would rather tell you which valley has the better weekly market than list every “top attraction.”
- Realistic swapping advice. Clear communication, small gifts, and leaving things better matter more than perfect photos of the house.
The slow letter
Once a month we send a short email with a new destination, a seasonal note, and one practical planning tip. No spam, no selling your details, and you can unsubscribe with one click. You can sign up at the bottom of any page, and read exactly what we store in our privacy note.
How the site is made
This is a deliberately simple, fast site: static HTML served from Cloudflare, with no frameworks, no third-party trackers, and no ads. We want the words and the destinations to load immediately and to remain readable for years. Every destination photo is freely licensed and credited here.
The content is written from repeated visits rather than press trips. We have stayed in all the places mentioned, many of them through home swaps. Mistakes and favorites are our own.
